Fit Firefighter gets a butt kicking at "yoga" - Scott Ryckman
My name is Scott Ryckman, I am a Fire Suppression Captain and Paramedic with the Bellingham Fire Department, husband, and father of two boys.
I have been doing Circular Strength Training for about 10 years as well as following TacFit programs.
I like to ski and snowboard, mountain bike, hike, and consider myself an active, health conscious individual.
Yoga has always been a struggle for me, but something I enjoy. I have wanted to try Clubbell Yoga for the past several years, and when my wife and I saw Flex Movement Lab opening in Ferndale I had to try it!
I can honestly say it is one of the best workouts I've done in years!
It is helping me to identify weakness in my form and muscle structure, improving my mobility, lessening pain from past injury, improving my overall strength, toning my musculature, and challenging my physical and mental stamina in a way I have not experienced in any other workout program.
Clubbell Yoga is also something I have been able to enjoy with my wife, and we have also found a new challenge in steel mace training!
I also have more energy and improved performance in my work and play activities.
Add in the amazing environment that Ellie and Bethany are creating at their studio and it equates to a fun, challenging, and positive experience.
I've never been one to "wake up" to workout early, but have found myself getting up at 5:30 to make it to 6:00 am classes on a regular basis, and will continue to do so.
Club Bell Yoga is not what I thought it would be, and has exceeded my wildest expectations! It is by far one of the best conditioning workouts around.
I would encourage anyone wanting to increase performance, mobility, and quality of daily life to give these programs a serious go...it is truly a life-altering experience.
